Congratulations!
Well done on securing a place on the GEMS scheme for 2003. This section contains some important information with regard to the weekend, and you are well advised to read it before you come up. Don't worry about printing things off: we will provide you with an information pack when you arrive, so that you can see the Itinerary, and other details. For now, sit back, and relax - you made it!

Meeting Points
Depending on how you arrive into Cambridge, we can meet you in one of three places. Hopefully, these are fairly easy to find, but if you have any problems, e-mail me at [email protected], and I will clarify them somewhat.

a) Bus

If you are arriving on a bus or coach, a representative will meet you at Drummer Street Bus Station, by the zebra crossing. The bus station is the large expanse of tarmac on the corner of Drummer Street, just by a small grassy area. Please arrive by 4.30pm.

b) Car

If you are arriving by car, then a representative will meet you in the Porter's Lodge of Girton College. Girton College is easiest found by locating Huntingdon Road, and traveling north along it until you reach signs for Girton. The college entrance is about 100 yards past the turning for Girton, on your right hand side. Please arrive by 4.30pm.

c) Train

If you are arriving by rail, a representative will meet you in the foyer of the Railway Station. Please arrive by 4.30pm.

If for any reason you are unable to make the meeting time on the day, or become lost, please contact me on (07939) 384234, and alternative arrangements will be made. If you are coming in by any other means, then please contact me to arrange a suitable meeting point.

Useful Stuff to Bring
Okay, this is by no means a complete list, but here are a few things that you may find really useful whilst you're here:
  • A thick coat (it can be really cold in Cambridge!)
  • Mobile Phone
  • Swimwear (we have an indoor heated pool, that you may want to try out...)
  • Comfortable Shoes (you'll be on your feet for quite a while each day)
  • Money (all regular stuff is provided, but if you fancy a midday coffee, or some music or clothes, we won't be able to help!)
  • Your travel tickets (both for the return leg, and also so we can give you money towards your expenses)
  • 70s Gear for Formal Hall (fancy dress kinda stuff)

Well, that's all we have for now. If we think of anything else, we'll post it up here, soon!
