Questionnaire to go Online 2003 Applications Closed Link to the Info Pack NOW!
Here's the thing - we need feedback. Put simply, we need evidence, in writing, that you thought the scheme was lovely and wonderful and a brilliant idea. Very soon, our high-tech guru will post an online feedback form, for you successful shadowees to let us know what you thought of this year's scheme. Be honest, though - if you didn't like it, we'd like to know.

Stay tuned, and please, please fill out feedback. The scheme can only be run with your support.

Unfortunately, if you're reading this and wanting to apply, the bad news is that you've missed the deadline for applications for the 2003 scheme.

If all goes to plan, a 2004 scheme will be announced by July, and the applications process for that will start in November 2003.

In the meantime, don't worry: all is not lost! E-mail [email protected]?subject=OpenDays  and just click SEND to receive info on Cambridge University's open days.

If you have any queries about the scheme, please contact Tee St Matthew by email at [email protected]

New Ethnic Minorities Officer!

Congratulations to Tee, who becomes our new Ethnic Minorities Officer. We wish her well, and the best of luck with this year's GEMS scheme!

The information pack is online now, and can be found by clicking here.

If you are a successful applicant, then this is where you can find out what you'll be up to. There's also some reminders, and some useful information about Cambridge.

Stay tuned for more information; the pack will be updated up until the weekend of the scheme.

Help Out - Make a Difference
We need YOUR Photos!

If you have any photos you'd like to stick in to this website (but please make sure they're relevant!), then let us know.

You've probably discovered that this site is not the most picture-full one in the world. Point is, short of sticking in Clip-Art, I had very little to work with. As I'm writing this, I don't even have photos of the team, and I'm not sure what to do...stick people, perhaps?

All art is good, so submit it to us via the Contact option, above. Alternatively, if you have regular 35mm processed photos, then we'll be happy to hunt round for a scanner to turn them into web art!

By submitting your photos, you are consenting for the team to use them in this site. You have been warned.

A Shadowing Scheme is useless without the help and dedication from you, our volunteers. You are our representatives for Cambridge University, and Girton College, so don't underestimate your contribution. After all - we merely set up the whole thing...you are the people who make it work.

Last year was a huge success for the pilot scheme, and we are hoping to emulate or better that success this year. If you would like to have a shadow for a weekend in Lent Term 2003, then please get in contact, and help make a difference.

Free GEMS Report

If you are planning on running a college shadowing scheme of any kind, but specifically one with an Ethnic Minority focus, e-mail the team for a free white paper report on the scheme that ran in 2001/2.

GEMS is not GEEMA
Sticky point, I'm afraid, but one that needs to be mentioned before people get confused. The GEMS scheme is not a GEEMA scheme, but one run independently of the group. However, we are eternally grateful for the help given by Manish and his team in helping get the scheme off the ground.

However, they are NOT one and the same.
